<strong>Department: </strong>Commercial<br><br><strong>Location: </strong>Hertford, Hertfordshire<br><br><strong>Description<br><br></strong>St Joseph is Berkeley\'s newest brand, created to bring our passion for quality, place making and building communities to the West Midlands, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.<br><br>We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team on an exciting new residential development in Hertford. This landmark scheme comprises 446 high-quality homes, including 29 contemporary townhouses and 417 stylish apartments across four architecturally designed blocks.<br><br>From day one, you will be working alongside a highly experienced commercial team, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to be directly involved in procurement activities from the very start, allowing you to develop your expertise on a project of significant scale and complexity.<br><br><strong>The role<br><br></strong><ul><li>Preparation of reports as required.</li><li>Identifying risks and opportunities.</li><li>Understanding the approved Budget and package breakdowns.</li><li>Liaising with the technical team and design consultants so as to ensure design concepts and proposals are developed in line with the approved budgets and procurement tracker.</li><li>Monitoring changes so as to continuously identify the status of costs.</li><li>Liaising with all members of the project team, including but not limited to construction, technical, sales, finance, customer service and estate management colleagues.</li><li>To establish subcontract sources early in the programme so that they can contribute to the design in terms of value engineering and alternative solutions (early supply chain engagement).</li><li>Ensure procurement of all subcontract elements of the development are completed in accordance with the company requirements and sustainability objectives.</li><li>Preparing scope of works and trade packages.</li><li>Preparing selected tender list for approval.</li><li>Subcontract tendering.</li><li>Holding and taking minutes of Subcontract Post-Tender and Pre-Order Meetings.</li><li>Preparing subcontract documentation.</li><li>Raising subcontractor payments and ensuring associated notices and documentation are issued in a timely manner.</li><li>Sending agreed number of copies of all Contract Drawings and any revised drawings as issued to subcontractors.</li><li>Forecasting value of design variations.</li><li>Agreeing variations with subcontractor.</li><li>Countersigning site instructions.</li><li>Producing subcontractor instruction/variation reports.</li><li>Agreeing final account with subcontractors.</li><li>Fully completing monthly cost reports for approval.</li><li>Attending Design Team Meetings as required.</li><li>Attending subcontractor progress meetings as required.</li><li>Valuing customer change variations.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Experience Required<br><br></strong><ul><li>Ideally Quantity Surveying or Construction degree level educated with industry experience.</li><li>Preferably membership of a professional body (CIOB, RICS).</li><li>Proactive, self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook.</li><li>Keen to deliver exceptional customer service.</li><li>An effective leader, motivator and mentor.</li><li>Flexible and reliable.</li><li>Credible, and comfortable in dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders.</li><li>Reliable, tolerant, and determined.</li><li>Team player.</li><li>Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person\'s point of view.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Why join us?<br><br></strong><ul><li>25 days annual leave, increasing with service to 33 days.</li><li>Health and wellbeing benefits including Private Medical Insurance.</li><li>Lifestyle benefits including access to an online discount platform.</li><li>Berkeley Foundation volunteer day.</li><li>Private pension plan.</li><li>Group life assurance.<br><br></li></ul><em>The standard default full-time working hours in the office are 8am-5pm with core working hours 9am-4pm.<br><br></em><strong>Internal Applicants<br><br></strong>If you’re an internal applicant, please ensure you’ve informed your line manager of your intention to apply for this position. #J-18808-Ljbffr
