Key Responsibilities Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, or in-person, providing accurate and timely information on a wide range of topics, including water and sewer accounts, tax information, library operations, and birth and death certificates. Assist customers with scheduling tours, visits, and events, and provide information on zoo and library operations, exhibits, and activities. Research and resolve customer complaints and issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff as needed. Update customer accounts and records, issue library cards, and process payments for various services. Collaborate with internal teams to verify customer information, resolve billing issues, and ensure accurate record-keeping. Schedule instructors for educational classes, promote zoo and library events, and coordinate group visits and special events. Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, including logging, routing, and tracking requests, and entering data into computer systems. Provide directory assistance, operate computer systems to access telephone directories, and relieve the Information Desk as needed. Essential Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Two years of customer service experience, preferably in a role that involved heavy phone and public contact, cashiering, data entry, and complaint resolution. PC and data entry skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to new software systems. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse customer groups. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications English/Spanish bilingual skills are a plus, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers who speak multiple languages. Knowledge of customer service principles and practices, with a focus on delivering exceptional service in a government or public sector setting.
