Job Summary
Zayed Universitys College of Education (Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses) seeks energetic and innovative faculty able to contribute to the ongoing development of the UAEs education system through teaching, research and engagement with UAE schools. These faculty will contribute to the preparation of graduates at Baccalaureate and Masters levels who will become exemplary teachers, school administrators, and future leaders able to serve national and regional development in one of the worlds most dynamic countries. Successful candidates will also assist in the planning and implementation of teaching, research and professional development programs that will contribute to the national school reform movements currently underway across the UAE.
Assisting in the formation of alliances with the and the Education Councils and zones in various Emirates, these faculty members will help support the College of Education as a major national resource for the development of the UAEs human capital.
The College, accredited by NCATE/CAEP, is currently in the process of expanding and deepening its existing Baccalaureate and Masters Degree offerings, and in developing robust applied research and professional development programs directly relevant to schools in the UAE. The College has an Early Childhood Education Center on its Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses, providing a research-based model for early childhood education that features bilingual language acquisition (English and Modern Standard Arabic), discovery and numeracy development, and parent education.
Responsibilities
The College seeks candidates at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level with expertise in one of the following fields: Early Childhood Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Educational Leadership, and Special Education.
Candidates must be qualified and experienced in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, and will be expected to teach from time to time on graduate programs that are offered at the weekend. Pedagogical expertise is highly valued. The positions also require that the successful applicants handle course development, serve on College-wide committees, and engage in scholarly research.
Required Skills
An earned Doctorate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Educational Leadership, or Special Education, or in a closely related field, is required. Candidates should also have a record of publications and a significant research agenda in evidence.
Experience in working with second language learners is a plus. Professional development experience in K-12 is valued.
Although not a specific requirement, particular consideration will be given to faculty who have experience in international or bilingual environments, or who can work effectively in both English and Arabic.
